Re the 880, check this review:

http://motorcycletirereviews.com/25-1-marathon880.html

I was looking at the Pirelli Night Dragons, a new tyre from Pirelli for cruisers, but I don't they have them for the VN yet. SCM suggested Bridgestone or to stick with the Dunlop. Still waiting to hear from them about Pirelli.

Not unhappy with the Dunlop, having got 12000 out of them, but nice to know other options. I'll keep you posted.

Not good reviews there Ed, yet you go onto the Beartooth Kawasaki site in the US and they rave about them.
I'm wondering if there are different compounds for different countries or even parts of countries. Most of the
positive posts are from Canada or Nth merica so ???. Some of the guys on the Akron site ride on the bridgey's
and are pleased with them. Will be pleased to hear of your choice and report after your ride to the NT.

I am about to hit 12,000 on my first set of Dunlops. Pretty happy so far. I reckon I have a few thousand K's left in them but the front looks a little close to the TWI.

Here's some photo's to compare with you tyres Ed. Similar wear do you reckon?

Hopefully this pic comes out okay. The TWI is highlighted in the red circle. The TWI is usually a raised section of rubber in between the tread of the tyre. As the tyre wears down the height of the TWI gets closer to being flush with the surface of the tyre. When they are really close to being flush, it is probably time to start shopping for a new tyre.

I think I may have a little more wear on mine. Tks for the info.

BTW, SCM has said that I can only go dunlop, at least on the front, if I am to keep the same sizes. I think I'll just go dunlop on both this time around. Not unhappy with them, just wanted some options.

Ed, Balmain tyres seem to have a pretty good range and info on their site.
Then again you have the very skinny tyre on the front which might be a prob.

I'll go dunlop this time and do more research for the next change.

Stew, are you coming to Husky on Sunday?
