A hot Spring day will give way to strong winds and a possible thunderstorm in Sydney this afternoon before the temperature drops 10 degrees and gale-force winds hit the city tomorrow.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for Sydney tomorrow as a cold front approaching Adelaide today tracks east across NSW.
Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Chris Webb said the front would bring down widespread, gale-force and damaging winds across the city tomorrow morning.
"There's a good chance [winds] will exceed 100km/h tomorrow in Sydney," bureau forecaster Chris Webb said.
"Typically with these events there'll be some damage to property, there are power lines down, there are problems driving on the road with regard to debris and people should be aware that on [bridges] or exposed roads it's more dangerous to drive."
Today's predicted maximum temperature of between 30 and 32 degrees would be followed by a top of just 22 degrees tomorrow, Mr Webb said.
Patchy thunderstorms and strong winds of between 40 and 60km/h were predicted over parts of Sydney this afternoon.
"There's some chance one of those storms will bring down very strong wind gusts with it but it'll be localised ... it won't happen in every suburb around Sydney," Mr Webb said.
