Harry you do realise that by posting this stuff you are getting further up my wifes "TO KILL" list! lol!
Some great ideas there but again too many $$$$$$$
I am giving serious consideration to changing bikes soon.
Over the xmas break i went for an overnighter to Port Macquarie with a few Newcastle guys.
I took Jarrad, luggage for 2, my 2 man swag a portable cooker(brick size) some snags and bread
As alot of the ride up was 100km/h speeds the 900 really did struggle so i am debating between
3 other bikes.

1 - Kwaka GTR1400 but an 09 model. The 2010 doesnt have cruise but you get heated grips and a
new screen that i would change anways and i would rather fit heated grips than cruise. I would
have considered the Honda 1300 but service costs are so extreme when compared withe the GTR
that it just doesnt make sense
2 - Kwaka 1700 Nomad - well this bike speaks for itself, as my taste goes this could be the best
cruiser style bike on the market today. There does seem to be some heat issues with the bike
but apparently the 2010 models have rectified this with the radiator being slightly repositioned.
3 - Suzuki V-Strom 650 yes i know a Suzuki but a good bike IMHO, Would allow me to add some light
off road or combined off and on road trips. The other advantage of the strom is its price compared
to the other 2. I may be able to keep my 900 and get the strom but if i got the others the 900
has to go No

So over the next few weeks i will be riding and riding again those 3 bikes and hopefully make up my mind by March

The Nomad will have no problems.

A lot of people who have nomads travel far away and never say anything negative about it.

You can always talk to Gordon (Mr L8ter), he has this bike.

AJ, my 900 did Uluru nicely and was happy sitting on 130 (in the NT where it was legal).

Please dont get me wrong i love my 900, and at this stage the idea of the strom is my fav, but
if the minister of war and finance decides that 1 bike is all i should have then i will upgrade with the
GTR probably my first choice at this stage the nomad is near 400kg and i'm not getting any younger LOL
the GTR is a tad over 300kg but it is very well balanced i will see what happens

Ed i know the 900 1up fully loaded will travel well but 2 things come into my thinking
1 - Your custom is lighter to begin with
2 - My wife is finally giving consideration to come for a ride with me so 2up fully loaded it will struggle

I agree AJ my trip to QLD was the same and got me thinking the 900 just doesnt have enough power.
I love the bike and love riding it, however having said that I'm taking a 2010 night rod for a test drive tomorrow. (plenty of power there affraid )

Thanks for the link Ed, i agree the trumpy is a nice ride but honestly not for me, got to try all the trumpys
at rick andrews gosford a few weeks ago and wasnt impressed with the comfort of them, Power levels were fine
price was too high IMHO. No for me if its going to be another cruiser it will be a kwaka.

Stew go ride the rod but if that impresses you then go try a M109, there are many members of the Suzi forum
i frequent that have traded in the Hardley's and gone tghe 109 and never looked back and its cheaper so with
the baby transistor on the way you'll need every penny you can get lol!

Before I bought my bikes, I tested:
VN800
VN900
MC50 Boulevard (800Cc)
Harley Sportsters 883
Yamaha XVS1100

I choose based on:

The style, the riding comfort, the shape, the technology, my own weight and the weight of the bikes, etc.

I thought about buying the bike that is big enough, but not too heavy to handle.

I am 70kgs. So far, I never strugle even if I have a pilion. But not loaded either.

So, there are a few things that we have to consider. The capacity and the load that we plan to cary.
