| Hi everyone, if you use E tags I was wondering how you use them. I have received about 3 toll notices where mine has not been read. I have tried several things - placed in my top pocket, held it in one hand (which is not recommended and quite a major feat) and left it in the the front leather case, all with varying degrees of success. What do you all do with these things - they're a bloody nuisance to be honest
thks

| Hi Dave,
Ring them up and ask for a mouting bracket that you put in the middle of the handle bar. That's what I do and I don't have any problem.

| I had a couple of exchanges with the manager of the M2 after my RTA etag did not work. These things are amazingly complex. Firstly the M2 uses different technology sensors depending which lane your in. So my ETag could not be read by the booths with the gates , but could be read by the drive straight thru bit with no booths.
And every toll road seems to use different sensing technology with different results.
I have a windscreen mounted tool bag and my tag is in a clip seal plastic bag at the top of that bag. For RTA purposes it is correctly mounted, though not visible (confirmed by the manager at the M2) . What we discovered after talking to the M2 manger - (Very helpful lady by the way). That the tag should be positioned upside down in the tool bag so the two way tape that you would stick to a windscreen is at the top! Believe it or not this fixed the problem for that gate. But not the M4 where i got a notice the other day. I have had periodic notices on the M7 as well, but none lately.
Not sure if this helps??

| Dave you can actually avoid all this and link it to the registration of your car (if you have one) they send you a notice but it doesnt cost you anything. Maybe Ed can explain this better. | |

| Hi Dave
My rego # is linked to my RTA E-TAG and I have never had to carry my E-Tag on myself or the bike. Initially, when I travelled the M2, I received a notice from the M2 operator. I rang them, advised my E-TAG # and they charged my account the normal toll without penalty. Since then they have always matched my rego # with my RTA E-TAG account and billed accordingly.
Similarly, if I travel elsewhere (bridge, tunnel, M7 etc), the rego # is matched with my account.
Don't risk having your tag fall off or stolen. Just link your rego number to your account and ride. If you have a tag for your car, don't buy a tag for the bike, just add the bike to the car tag.

| Thats a great idea. I'll do that this week. Mine is a Roam tag but I am guessing they will do the same.
Thanks for your help

| I think initially they did not have an arrangement to swap details between providers ie rego/account details. That may have changed since then. | |
