Exhaust pipes De-buffleing

Hi guys,

Do you know if de-buffling exhaust pipe effects the warranty?

I was also wondering if it was legal.

Any help would be appreciated.

not sure about the warranty. Legal, would depend on how loud it is though I think.

Hi Stew,

I just double checked with my dealer and one of the guys said that if you change your pipe and later on there is something wrong with the engine, the can use that excuse against us to not fix it under waranty.

So, I will do it when my waranty runs out.

This would be the smartest solution, but I've already contacted them and the said that they haven't got one for VNs just yet.

The dealer I went through said it wouldn't be a problem (warranty I mean) he did say though he wouldn't put the power commander and hyer charge or similar on it until it was run in. Which it now is
Harry you might wanna check out www.westendmotorsports.com I deal with a guy called Mike there (in USA) very friendly great service and I find they have a lot of stuff for VN's at very good prices even with the postage.
The other one that has some cool custom stuff is www.meancycles.com they have everything from chrome bits to fenders and wideass conversion kits. I have not brought anything from them as yet but they do have a good range.

There is a place in wollongong called ZPower but they are pretty expensive and their postage prices are ridiculous!!!! So if buying anything there you would have to drive down there and they are only open on a Saturday.

All in all highly recommend westend motorsports good guy and reasonable prices

I'm not sure Harry. My bike is due for a service, so when I get it done I will ask the mechanic.
There seems a lot of choice and they all do different thing. Very confusing!

Whilst this reply is not exactly about exhaust pipes, but I do agree with STEW066, I just bought some aftermarket accessories fro Z-Power in Woolongong and I also thought the prices and the postage was very expensive

On Tuesday I went to visit my friend who happens to live at Buli.

So, that was a really good excuse for me to go for a ride.

Even though I wento on my own, the weather was absolutely stunning. The sky was so blue and not windy at all...... it was just fantastic..!

Anyway, along the way, I was riding on the left hand side on the highway and an old man changed lane without any warning at all and nearly touch me.

So...... I decided to put my V&H pipes back on, but I rapped the buffle with the fibreglass that I bought from the USA and cost me $7.50 US plus shipping.

It decreases the loudness just a little, but it's enough to save my ears.

I put a set of Vance and Hines pipes on the Vulcan about 12 months ago. Although they were a bit noisy there was some marginal increase in performance and fuel economy. The only other negative point is that they are a bit lowere than the standard pipes and can scrape if leaning over on the right side, if you got a passenger on as well as bags.

Got them from Zpower and found that when they do have a few specials on and if you can pick them up and not rely on their postage costs then it is not to bad a price.

Not that I'm trying to give Zpower to many raps but they do seem to have a reasonable range of aftermaret accessories for the Vulcans. I wish I had of paid their $400 or $500 for the back rack rather than the $900 for the genuine Kawasaki.

I have debaffled the pipes and I love the sound and it keeps the look of the bike standard. Same performance and fuel eccom. Easy to do and took only about 2 hours to do the job start to finish, clean up and back on the bike.

I havent debaffled mine but have drilled the ends, my advice to you, buy some vance and hines or some cobras.
with the likelyhood of you getting defected for loud pipes ever increasing its nice to have the stock set there for
those occasions u have a canary to remove!
Also consider reale value as i know many people will not buy a bike without at least the std pipe supplied xtra

That is true Aj they came in handy during my recent sale. People love loud pipes but the reality is you can get sick of them if you are riding often

hi guys ....standard pipes verses loud pipes ......i have vance and hines pipes with baffels in them .....my brother has cobra with out baffels (very loud) he is half
deaf so its sounds normal to him ...we both have been pulled up breath testing ,rego checks etc never have they ever said anything about the loud pipes ....if it
was a issue all the harleys ,choppersetc would be off the road ......from my own riding and other chopper riders ....LOUD PIPES SAVES LIFES ....i know cars ,other bikes etc
can hear you before they see you .....the louder the better ...lol ...wear ear plugs and by the time you have your helmet on ...not too loud ...personal prefernce i guess

I enjoy riding with loud pipes just dont reccomend debaffling the originals, get a good set of pipes
and keep the stockers for resale!
