Two riders killed on Putty Road. Early report suggests a Ute was overtaking and smashed into the group. A clear reason why distances greater than 3 seconds should be kept between riders.

Very sad news and my condolences to their families.

The ute driver was def on the wrong side of the road but according to some witnesses wasnt actually overtaking!!!

BTW there has been about 10 motorcyclists killed over the last month or so. Lets be carefull out there people I
would like to be riding with all of you for a long time to come

I'm only posting this given what AJ had said. It will be up to the coroner to determine the circumstances. A tragic set of circumstances they are indeed. This is from a NSWR member on a random ride of his own.


"I was on the ride. It happened on a straight stretch of road. They had all pulled over to check something on their bikes. Then as they pulled away from the side of the road the ute started overtaking and hit them. Greg and Leon will be missed and were both top blokes. Unfortunately on the bike behind them was gregs son ash and he had to witness the whole thing and was injured as well. I feel for everyone involved on this accident."

After seeing tonites news reports and other info on the net, I must agree it seems as though the ute was trying to overtake.

That is terrible news. Agree with AJ guys be careful out there. I have seen 3 bike accidents in the last 2 weeks on the way to work, one looked pretty bad. If riding in the morning and late afternoon at the moment be very careful as apparently people in cages cant drive in the sunlight.
I have been doing my best however to educate some of them to be VERY aware of motor cycles
