Need Information re Exhausts & mapping Empty
PostSubject: Need Information re Exhausts & mapping   Need Information re Exhausts & mapping EmptyMon Dec 20, 2010 2:46 am

Hi Guys well my turn, I'm looking to change my pipes and get a set of Cobra Speedster Swept Exhausts. Now getting them may not be the problem as Metric Thunder in the states have them, tried here and they cost almost $400 dollars more. But my question to anyone who has upgraded there system, Do I need to change the air filter and if so to what type as I'm clueless, and why is that done?
Question 2 is do i need to buy a commander, to map the system ? and if so Why do I need to do this?
Any information will do please don't get to complicated/ Technical. Very Happy
Looking forward to your replies and then I'll make more enquiries to purchase some in teh new year.

All the Best for Christmas.
Regards
Rick

Hi Rick. You can change the pipes without changing the air filter or re-mapping it. It will back fire but wont affect the running of the bike.
If you change the pipes and air filter, then you will need to run a power commander or similar with it and have it mapped. It starts to get expensive for very little gain in power.
Hope that helps

Hi Stew, So it back fires hmmm don't like that I just want that rumble noise so I'm heard, and give the bike that little extra.
I may have to go for the whole hog I guess.
Thanks Stew

No worries, your probably looking around 1400 for the air kit, PC and mapping, plus pipes. Bikebiz fit and map for around 700 but think there is a guy on NSW riders that can map it cheaper not sure about fitting it though. I looked at fitting the PC and not so easy, well not for me anyway.
