I suspect I have shaft wear problems and am hoping someone on the forum can recommend a mechanic who has a good rep with re-building them.
I stripped my Drifter down to the frame, had it sand blasted, then repainted it. Relaced a cam and the tappet cogs/chains and camchain tensioners , and relaced the clutch diaphram plate with the Meanstreak plates. Repainted her in Babbylon Red and Buttercup Yellow (like the early two tone Drifters) and fitted a tank handshift and kickstart. Pinstriped her in tan to match the Corbin tan solo seat. Have about 5000k and 8 months since the re-build.
Re-shimming the shaft though and replacing the 2 bearings - I'll leave to a expert.
Any recommendations welcomed.
