I haven't used my bike in a long time, much to the annoyance of Harry, really sorry mate I promise I will join you guys really soon.

Anyway enough crawling, apart from charging the dead battery is there anything else I should consider before using the bike again?

Take care

How long is long?

Check belt/chain tension. Consider draining the tank and replacing the petrol. An oil change would be nice. Check and give all your levers a clean and perhaps a spray of WD40 and otherwise give the whole bike a look over for deteriation of anything.

The battery will be the biggest concern. It needs some life to accept a new charging. If it's completely and utterly dead, may be wiser to replace it.

Give it a well deserved wash, test ride and listen for anything that may be unusual. My VN had an annoying squeak. Turned out the belt needed tightening.

Then ride the bike like you stole it and come join Harry.

ED, ED, ED, i really wish you wouldnt swear on this site mate (WD40) yes it lubricates but it also collects dust and is not part of most professional toolboxes. Using silicon spray insteat will still give the lubrication but doesnt attract the dirt and dust. Nulon make a great silicon spray for about the same price as the other shit. It wont penetrate to loosen screws thought so for that i use INOX.

Just my 0.02c guys

Not really old school Ed, just the numb nuts who make wd40 have changed the formula over the years to keep costs down resulting in an inferior product
