Northern Beaches Scenic Route - 16 Aug

Harry, where would the meeting place be?, and what time?

Have this pencilled on the calendar as a definite possibility. Should be able to confirm the week before! I would be coming down the freeway, so happy to meet up anywhere once I turn left onto the Pacific Highway. Perhaps there's a Maccas on the north side so I can have a toliet stop and pick up a tour guide? I have the GPS though, so no problem meeting up anywhere really.

Stew and I live in the inner west of Sydney, so we would go through the Harbour Bridge to go towards Mosman.

I was thinking about meeting at the Parking lot just before the Spit Bridge towards Manly.

Let me know if you have any suggestion.

Also depends who's coming too.

Ed dont you have a meeting point near Mosman, shell servo or something? I think there is a Macca's round there also.

We usually meet at the Shell Servo on Military Rd Cremorne when planning to ride across the bridge. The servo is opposite McDonalds. In this instance, we'd be better meeting at the McDonalds itself as we would be riding towards Mosman. If that's the case the McDonalds is on the corner of Winnie Street and Military Road Cremorne. Check the following Google link for location.

Sounds fine to me. I should be able to find that without any drama! Just settle on a time when you get organised and I'll try not to be late

For this ride I think be good idea if we make the meeting time a little bit later, that way it makes it a bit easier for people who come from far places like Allan and Ian.

I did it with car before and it was a really nice.

I agree Harry would be a nice ride, lots of memories for me too as i used to frequent
that area alot. Just family comitments before i go away thats all

At this stage, barring any major dramas, I hope to be at Maccas by about 09:30 for a coffee and brekkie after the ride from Newcastle. Forecast is for about 25c with afternoon showers. Should be a great day

Sorry guys that I had to cut the ride short, as I have a 3:00am start in the morning ( bloody work!! )

Here's a couple of pics anyway, so for the low resolution, forgot my camera and had to take the photo's on my mobile phone

Was a glorious and sunny day in Sydney with a top of 28 degrees predicted and it did not dissapoint!

We all met at the Macca's at Cremorne for a quick brekky and chat. Quite a few nice bikes now with many customised and tweaked by their owners.

There were a couple of non Kwakka bikes and we decided to let them come along anyway, even the BMW!

Cremorne:






From Cremorne we set off up Military Rd and across the Spit Bridge and then swung off towards Clontarf and across the back way to Narabeen Lakes and then onto the road up towards Palm Beach. It's a nice ride down through to Narabeen Lakes with lots of tree cover and sweeping bends.

We arrived at Palm Beach and it might well have been a Summers day with lots of people around, plenty of bikes and sunshine!

When we'd had our fill of sand and surf it was time to go and get some lunch. We headed back down through Avalon and Newport and then swung off towards Church Point. Wound our way through the quays along Pittwater Road on the way to the cafe.

Time for food and a chance to enjoy the view of Scotland Island from the wharf while we ate. Best bet is takeaway food, pie and sauce, can't go wrong! Pies not being good enough for some there were a number of oysters consumed as well apparently! Finished off with a Cornetto made it a perfect lunch stop.

Church Point:






After that we headed off towards West Head but we balked at the cost of National Park entry. $11 per motorcycle (same for a car) seemed a bit rich! So the guys headed toward Manly for some ice-cream and I headed home for a quiet lie down!

Thanks for leading the way Harry, but I really think you need to throw away that GPS!
