| Registrations for farRide # 19 are now open With the adrenalin still pumping from FarRide 18 to Nambucca Heads, I wanted to give people the heads up for the next one. Registration is not yet open and I will advise when it does. I expect it to be very soon. If you need to book time off work, this may be an opportunity to do so. Lightning Ridge will be my 4th FarRide which means I will be able to tackle the following one (# 20 to Renmark SA) as a FarRide 1200 km ride as they do not allow you to register for the 1,200 km event until you have 4 1,000 km rides under your belt. You can still ride 1,200 km but are only credited with a 1,000 km ride. This works for me very well as Renmark is almost 1,200 km from Sydney. Date: Saturday 26th May Destination: Lightning Ridge NSW The following route gives you a 1,018 km trip with a Friday night stop at Dunedoo (love that name), a trip of just 377 km, which can be attempted after work Friday. Then 380 km to Lightning Ridge on the Saturday morning. It might be fun to then continue a further 260 km on to Nindigully Pub for a Saturday night stop over to complete the 1,000 km. Sunday gives us a 800 km return trip to Sydney. Unsure about the FarRider philosophy of riding ? FarRiders undertake to ride a given distance (min 1,000km) in a 24 hour period. There is a finish time (see details below). Providing you travel 1,000km within a 24 hour period, either before or after the check in time, you will qualify as a FarRider for that event. As an example, if the check-in time was 12:00 noon on the Saturday, you could choose to ride say 400 km to check in, with a documented start time of 8:00 am Saturday and then complete the remaining 600 km anytime before 8:00 am the next morning. Any questions, just ask or check the event at http://www.farriders.com/

| Also tempted AJ, but may keep the SS1600 for Renmark. We have to do 1200 km to get there anyway. This may be my revised Lightning Ridge ride. Depart at 12:00 (or whenever it is allowable) and stop overnight at Gunnedah. 1,012 km ride. | |

Thats a thought Stew. From the Ridge, its 300 km to Bourke. Stay overnight, then the return to Sydney on Sunday would be just 700 km. View Larger Map

| Registered. If there is any possibility that you may attend this ride, it is important to register now. On FarRide # 18, registrations exceeded 146 at one time. If there are too many registered, they may suspend registrations. If the worst happens, and you are not able to attend, you can then cancel your registration before the ride. Please check http://farriders.com/index.php for registration details. | |

| Further route revision (all part of the fun of a FarRide). Depart at 11:30 from the BP on Bells Line of Road at Kurmond. Travel via Dubbo with an overnight stop at Bourke. Stew, this would be just under 700 km on the Friday. Then a 07:00 am depart on the Saturday to the Ridge, avoiding a repeat of NH. Where are you staying Friday night AJ? I'm sure we will cross paths somewhere. Rather than return via Tamworth and the Oxley, thought I might enjoy the stay at the Ridge Saturday night and ride home via Dunedoo and Mudgee, a distance of about 700 km. Registrations are at 90 ATM.View Larger Map | |

| I was forgetting that you were doing the SS 1,600. Good luck with that. Having done the 1,839 from Mackay, I know what you will be going through. | |

| I just booked accomodation at the "Lightning Ridge Outback Resort" for the Saturday night. It's the first hotel on the left on your way into town, close enough from the club to walk it. Configuration is two interconnecting rooms, each with one queen bed and a single. Cost is $200.00. If you would like to share, please post up ASAP. If there are no takers for the extra beds by say Tuesday next week, I'll downsize the room to a single.Lightning Ridge Outback Resort 6 Onyx Street Lightning Ridge N.S.W 2834 P: 02 68290 304 F: 02 68290 306 www.ridgehotelmotel.com.au

| Greetings All and especially you Ed, seeing as you are the one person who seems to be able to organise everybody into some sort of action. I was looking forward to riding to Lightning ridge later but now am unsure. Have not booked but thought I may just ride along at your pace. I was on the way back from Gunnedah last Friday arvo and did not see the stop or blinker of a shiny grain truck as it pulled in to a farm drive. I tried to stop but the bike got a wobble up and at very minimal speed and wobbling, it highsided me ( think thats the word), and down I came. The bike has been damaged on the left side and have had it to Sydney City repairs. I managed to come up relatively unscathed except for a bruised left hip and minor scratching. The bike ( lovely little sausage) started first go and seemed to handle okay so rode home and never been so happy to get in the door, even though I have done the trip so many times before. Very hard lifting my left leg from the running board at the lights when close to town, but apart from that , everything seems to be okay. Anyway after that long saga , Just wanted to let you know that at this stage , not sure what I am doing---will depend also on how long the repairs take. Cheers for now Len | |

| Good to hear you are ok. The bike can always be repaired.
Whilst you can (in case they close registrations) you should still register in the off chance that you will ride. You know you want too. As I said earlier, just let clint know if you won't be attending. Hope you are feeling better anyway.

| Hi Len, on the forward trip, I rode with two others. At Mudgee, I sent them ahead and waited for Stew who left work later than we did. Stew and I rode alone to Bourke, where we caught up with the others. No fuel for a very long way on that leg and we were both on reserve coming to Bourke, so slowed the pace down. Found a 24hr automated servo on the outskirts of town and filled up before finding our motel. On the return trip, our group was 5 until Lithgow maccas. Stew went via the GWH and the rest of us took Bells. More traffic on Bells than usual, but still probably quieter than GWH.
Weather Gods were very kind, but it was cold Friday night. Thermals, heated grips and wet gear did the job.
Hope to see you at Renmark. Disappointed we didn't see AJ at the Ridge. Hope he's ok.
