Police conduct inquiries after motorcycle pillion passenger killed – Hawkesbury LAC
Saturday, 15 Aug 2009 02:27pm
Police are investigating the death of a motorcycle pillion passenger on Sydney’s north-western outskirts this morning.
A number of motorcycles were travelling north along Putty Road at Colo about 9.30am today, when one of the bikes crossed onto the wrong side of the road.
As the motorcycle passed a roadside guard rail, an 18-year-old man - who was the pillion passenger - came into contact with it, causing him to be ejected from the bike.
The rider, a 47-year-old man, stopped the bike a short distance away and immediately rendered assistance to the teenager.
Police from Hawkesbury Local Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the location.
The teenager, who’d suffered head and spinal injuries, died at the scene.
The rider was taken to Hawkesbury Hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.
Putty Road has been closed as local police and forensics specialists continue their inquiries into the cause of the incident. Localised diversions will be in place for about another hour.
Anyone who witnessed the incident and hasn’t already spoken with investigating officers is urged to contact Windsor Police Station via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
